The Panthers JV team got out to a smoking start against St. Regis on Friday and never let up, winning 63-30 and finishing their season on a high note with a record of 11-8.
“We all get together on the court and it’s starting to gel,” said freshman Cody Hoose. “We all get along and it’s just fun to see.”
This team will be, for the most part, next years Alberton Panther basketball team. Of this season’s team, nine of the 13 players on the Varsity roster will graduate after this season, meaning that in order to continue to have the success that Alberton has had under head coach Chris Clevenger in the last five season, the members of the JV team know the time to gel is now.
“We learned how to run our offense and defense and we really meshed together as a team,” said Hoose. “We got to know each other and what we are all capable of. I think we will be pretty good for the next couple seasons.”
In the St. Regis game, Jordan Johnson scored 20 points to help lead the team to victory. Patrick O’Rourke netted 11, Jamie Davenport had nine and Cody Kohlwes had seven. James Wemple got in the scoring book with six points, Matt Lausch and Hoose each had four and Conrad Wasser chimed in with two.
