Monday the “old Nevets shop” got new glasses.

Nate Biard and Ivan Shannon or Montana Glass removed one of the big garage doors and replaced it with a large panel that includes several large panels of plate glass and a very attractive double glass door.

This is in preparation for the installation of a new business in town, the Alberton Feed and Supply.

There has been a market for feed and hardware ever since Debbie Brovold closed her shop in the cement block building downtown several years ago.

And Nevets has not discorporated … they have relocated in a newly built shop on the end of  Parkway Drive where Roy Wales once lived.

Salinas Callison acted as overseer of the operation as she watched Creighton and Carson, her two active and interested boys, explore the shop.

Salinas said the shop has signed a contract with Purina for most feed supply.  “We will have the common hardware supplies — for plumbing, electrical, and automotive and battery needs.  We will also carry some basic clothing, like Wranglers, and gloves.  We hope to get Carhart later on. We’ll have pet supplies.  And I think we will have chick days in the springtime.”

Salinas was excited by the prospect.  She drew with her hands in the air and with her toe on the concrete the location of the checkout counter.  “Rick will run his trucking from up there,” and she indicated the area above the Nevets office and lavatory.

“We are going to be open for selling stock on the 11th or 18th of February.  We are hearing special orders now — people can call 722-1200.

“We are going to have our Grand Opening in June.  We intend to have KYSS radio here.

The arrival of the Alberton Feed and Supply is another sign of the gathering economic vitality of Alberton.
