Stephanie Janelle Pruitt of St. Regis won the 2006 Mineral County Community Foundation scholarship.
The foundation selects the winner based on community involvement and academic achievement. Congratulations Janelle! The scholarship rotates among the three school districts of the County – a senior from Alberton High School will be the recipient of the 2007 scholarship. Gift shop hosts 1st appreciation event
The St. Regis Gift Shop hosted its first annual Special Client Appreciation Event on Tuesday evening.  A variety of unique, fun and thoughtful gifts were on display.  Members of the community were invited to enjoy wine, cider, appetizers and home made cookies.

St. Regis picks Super 8 for readerboard site

Voters at the St. Regis Community Council meeting Tuesday night chose the Super 8 Motel for the community readerboard. A state employee will examine the site Friday. If the site is not approved, voters chose the St. Regis Fire Hall as the backup site for the readerboard.

A tattoo artist has opened a business, Inkpressions, in St. Regis.
Brian Allen, who has been working as a tattoo artist for the last seven years, has been sharing the building with Candy Noonan at A Little Off The Top for the past three weeks. He said he likes doing a lot of freehand artwork, airbrushings, and family portraits. He also does a lot of tribals and coverups--people made mistakes in their life and they like to change. "I really like somebody to tell me what they want and give me the freedom to just go with it," he said. To set up an appointment, call Brian at 649-8282. That's 649-TAT2 ("tattoo").
